A baby! ~ 2007
|
|
He has got a proper name but we normally refer to him as Spud - oh well, you can't pick your parents ;-D

Graduation ~ July 2006
|
|
Happy me. I got a Distinction for my MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University - basically top marks!
How cool is that? Unlike the outfit. Why, oh why do they make you dress up like this? (Actually it was quite
fun. I felt like I was at Hogwarts!)

My Second Public Performance ~ March 2006
|
I can't have been that bad at last year's Bath Literature Festival because I was asked to come back and read some more!
The piece I read this time was from my book, The Birth of Venus. You can read an extract from it in the Books section. The piece was also
published in an anthology called Sparks - New Writing from Bath Spa.
The second picture is of Marie-Louise Jensen. A friend who's teen historical novel, Between Two Seas, will be
published by OUP soon, so look out for it!

World Book Day ~ March 2006
|
Har har! We be pirates for World Book Day at the bookshop. Lots of kiddie-winks came in to spend their tokens and we
made them walk the plank for chocolate coins! And then pirate Kelley went to her teenage reading groups, celebrating yet
another sucessful year, and they all asked why she was dressed as a pirate and quite frankly she didn't have a good
answer - but she was happy! And so were they when she produced more chocolate coins.

My Weddding ~ September 2005
|
|
Okay, too many photos, I know! But it was my wedding day and I can get all mushy if I want to!
I made the dress myself - which is why it started to fall to pieces by the end of the day, but it
wasn't as if I was ever gonna wear it again, was I?

More dressing up! ~ Summer 2005
|
Often on the holidays my bookshop gets in huge character costumes for people to wear and entertain small children.
Strangely I am the only one who volunteers to wear them?!?! What is wrong with everyone? It's fun!

My First Public Performance ~ March 2005
|
My first public appearance! This is me reading out some of my work at the 2005 Bath Literature Festival.
As you can see it was quite a dramatic piece. You can read the piece on the short stories page under Journey.

The Bath TRG First Anniversary ~ March 2005
|
On the 3rd March 2005 the Bath Central Library Teenage Reading Group celebrated its first birthday.
Here you can see some its members just before we cut the cake I made.

Harry Potter 5 Launch Party ~ June 2003
|
Do you remember all the hype for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?
I was out wearing this little number (I'm a phoenix, duh!). The bookshop I work in opened at
midnight to let all those eager adults, opps! I mean 'children' be the first to get the book
and we all had a bit of a party :-)
I made the costume myself. Those wings you were just admiring took a whole
day each to make - that's 7 hours per wing! I never would have started if I had known
it would take so long!

The Obligatory Writers Cats
|
The grey one is Isis. She has her tongue stuck out because she doesn't like having her
picture taken much. The stripey one is Izzy. They're brother and sister and came from a rescue centre.
They were actually born wild and you couldn't go near them at first - they'd hiss and get really scared.
But we put in a lot of hard work and now they're as dopey as any house cats.
